Licensed Veterinary Technician
Hi, I'm Sarah, a veterinary technician at Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital. I graduated from York Technical Institute’s Veterinary Technician program in 2024, earning my Associate of Applied Sciences degree while working as a veterinary assistant at Fur and Feathers Veterinary Care in Binghamton, NY. After passing the VTNE and becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), I transitioned into a vet tech role at Fur and Feathers.
Looking to expand my experience and continue growing in the profession, I decided to join the Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital team in June 2025. I’m proud to be part of a dedicated team that shares my passion for high-quality, compassionate care for animals and their people.
Why I Chose This Profession
I’ve always felt a deep connection to animals and have been inspired by the special relationships they allow us to build with them. Becoming a veterinary technician felt like the perfect way to turn that passion into a meaningful career where I could support those bonds every day.
Favorite Part of My Job
One of the most fulfilling parts of my job is providing not only care and comfort to the animals, but also guidance and education to their owners. I really enjoy helping pet parents better understand their pets’ needs, and being part of the team that works together to give every pet the best quality of life possible.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and pets. I’m an avid reader and especially love diving into book series that are a little more on the nerdy side, like The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and The Witcher. I also like to unwind by playing video games — The Legend of Zelda, Call of Duty, and Skyrim are some of my favorites. When I’m not caught up in a good story or game, I enjoy exploring the beautiful nature spots around upstate New York and relaxing with the people I care about.
My Personal Pet Crew
-
Shiloh, a young black Lab who is full of energy, incredibly friendly, and absolutely loves kids (he’s best friends with every small child he meets).
-
Clover, an older, laid-back cat who is sweet with everyone except Shiloh. She seems to prefer a little peace and quiet over puppy playtime!
