Veterinary Assistant
Hi! I'm Alexis, a Veterinary Assistant at Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital. I began working in veterinary medicine during my senior year of high school and immediately knew I had found my passion. Growing up around horses and other animalsâand even helping rescue a fewâshaped my desire to be a voice for animals and dedicate my life to their care. My experience ranges from kennel care to overnight veterinary assistance in both general practice and emergency settings, and every role has strengthened my commitment to helping animals feel safe, healthy, and understood.
Why I Chose This Profession
I chose this profession because animals have always been a huge part of my life. Being raised around horses and caring for animals in need showed me early on that this was my calling. I knew I wanted to help, advocate for, and protect animals who couldnât speak for themselves.
My Favorite Part of My Job
My favorite part of my job is helping shy or nervous pets come out of their shell. I love showing cats and dogs that they are safe with us and that weâre here to help them. Itâs incredibly rewarding to care for sick or injured animals and then watch them transform into happy, healthy pets whose personalities shine through.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, my favorite pastime is horseback riding. I love being outdoors and spending time on the trails.
My Personal Pet Crew
I'm always kept busy by my 2-year-old miniature Dachshund, Bourbon. He goes everywhere with me and especially loves exploring the horse trails right by my side.
